Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE) - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit uses three inset images to demonstrate the difference between acute capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) and chronic SCFE. The first image demonstrates normal bony anatomy of the hip joint with labels for the femoral head, epiphysial line, femoral neck, greater trochanter and femoral shaft. The second image demonstrates the remarkable separation of the femoral neck from the femoral head as occurs in acute SCFE. Image number three shows the 'healing and remodeling' protuberance that typically occurs in chronic SCFE.
