Cervical Spine Injuries with Triple Level Anterior Discectomy and Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit begins with one sagittal (side cut-away) view of the cervical spine illustrating the pre-operative condition. This image reveals the disc herniations at the C4-5, C5-6 and C6-7 levels specifically based on the pre-operative MRI. The key steps of the anterior discectomy and fusion surgery are included: the exposure of the cervical spine through an open surgical incision, the removal of the offending disc material at each level, the insertion of the intervertebral implants and the placement of the anterior fusion plate with two screws into each vertebral body.
