This exhibit illustrates a thrombosed popliteal artery aneurysm and the surgical procedure to bypass this blockage. It begins with a view of the leg from mid-thigh down to the foot revealing the major arteries of this region. At the level of the knee is shown an isolated blockage resulting from a thrombosed popliteal artery aneurysm with the entire leg shown pale and grey beneath this blockage. Next, the key steps of a popliteal bypass procedure are illustrated step by step. These images include the harvest of the saphenous vein from the contralateral leg, the creation of incisions above and below the blockage, the ligation and removal of the blocked portion of the artery, the connection of the graft to the femoral artery above the knee and the knee, the advancement of the graft down and the connection of the graft to the distal popliteal.
